upbraided for living in a "dream
world" — an ideal place of abode,
I would have thought, for any
child. For all sorts of things,
including poems, begin with
dreams. Most of the pieces here
have already been published
in various literary magazines. Blurb from the above book, pub-
lished in 2017: Alan Ireland was
born in Birmingham, England, in
1940, and grew up in rural War-
wickshire. Between 1962 and
1972, he lived in the Kanto re-
gion of Japan and worked as a
news editor at The Japan Times.
In late 1972, he joined the Mana-
watu Standard in Palmerston
North, and worked on the news
desk there until 2005. Micro Po-
ems is his first published collec-
tion of verse.
